For several years, the IfG has been studying the Maceió cavern field in Brazil, where, amongst other things, significant subsidence and a sinkhole have occurred. A detailed analysis of the geomechanical mechanisms and processes has now been published in two articles in the specialist journal Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering.
With 11 colleagues—about one-third of our workforce—we took part in this year’s Leipziger Firmenlauf. Together with about 22,000 other runners, we competed in the 5km race as “Team Salzhasen” in warm summer weather and achieved some impressive personal results.
